One clock for all fields. Seeking pauses. The inherited 26,000-year, twelve-equal-age scheme is provisional; it does not generate historical terrain.

Sources and model boundaries

In the terrain view, pale surrounding bands follow World Map 2025's original pigment and the outer crater context blends into Mars around a circular presentation edge. Existing continents and islands retain their source positions. Field sizes, this perimeter and travel compression are not calibrated physical distances. Mercury and Venus are not separate stages in this first combined draft.

Mars preserves its checked source-image mapping. Jupiter, Saturn and Ouranos use source-guided artistic surfaces and lightweight optical ceilings. The Black Sun depth, orbit and ray anchors are illustrative, not solved optics. Ground heights and Earth's Sun/Moon branches remain distinct from this presentation.

World Map 2025 sets the complete layout. This is a visual interpretation of the VOC model, not a conventional surveyed globe.

Relief evidence

Amber: VOC-guided estimate. Teal: informed by official regional height statistics. Grey: no modelled height—not proof of flat ground.

Render quality

Balanced uses compact colour on narrow screens. Heights stay unchanged; Economy uses baseline coasts.

Source coastline detail

Three source-checked native coastline sectors. Desktop regional views keep southern Africa and the Indian Ocean sector detailed together; compact views load one sector. No new coast coverage or heights.

Regional land relief

Wider highlands: roughly100×110km of selected Copernicus elevations around the retained native close-up window. The surround uses a12-arcsecond display LOD, not native detail everywhere. Heights stay1×; VOC placement, ground colours and joining belts are interpreted. Loads only when needed.

Fine terrain source & limits

Copernicus GLO-30 surface data may include vegetation, buildings and infilling. Metres above EGM2008 are provider-described; this file has no vertical CRS keys. This is not imagery or verified VOC positioning.

Zoom-loaded surface colour retains fuller native Physical Map detail within the existing approximate Map 2025 adaptation. This is illustrated map appearance—not aerial photography, measured reflectance or new elevation. Outside that compatible support the existing palette/detail remains. Continental coast coverage is refined from Map 2025; uncertain source marks retain the previous coverage. Economy and compact Balanced keep the lightweight surface.

Ocean depth notes

The encyclopedia depicts deep basins, canyons and outer seas. Its ocean-depth map gives four ranges:

Each source map has its own colour key. Purple means land on one plate and deep water on another; colour alone cannot be converted into height. Pages 147–148.

The African Ocean chapter describes water 150 metres lower around 6,000–7,000 years ago. That is a historical VOC claim, not today’s water level or a reason to join the current coastlines. Page 150.

What is measured, and what is inferred?

Heights interpret depicted landforms. Four African regions use retained official ETOPO statistics to inform their range; no official DEM is claimed to be geographically registered here. Height gain is 1× on the declared nominal scale.

Physical Map colour and painted detail enrich the known land group through approximate artwork transfer. Painted shading is not extra geometry. Pale surfaces are a material interpretation, not a verified ice survey.

Most outer relief is not yet modelled. This combined draft does not certify full encyclopedia compatibility. Use Fields to move between the wider Earth, Mars and the enclosing fields in this same explorer.

Edges and source limitations

Sub-pixel shoreline coverage reduces the old staircase edges. A distance-ruler graphic is no longer rendered as an island. The long straight edge southwest of Pangaia is also in the original artwork and remains unresolved; it has not been replaced with an invented coast.
